There's nothing quite like working with a vibrant subject in an equally vibrant setting. That's exactly what went down during Charli's senior portrait sesh downtown on lively Roosevelt Row.

Charli's outfits were awesome, straight fire as the kids say, and meshed perfectly with the eye-popping street murals coating the urban landscape. We're talking black biker jacket, casual tanks and jeans, plus a soft slip dress- they all contrasted so fresh against those contemporary backdrops. Charli is a total smokeshow, so obvs the resulting shots were amazing!

We kicked things off with some poses at my go-to spot behind Carly's Bistro that captured Charli's natural knack for slaying in front of the lens. Her infectious smile and confident aura just radiated through the camera as I immortalized her carefree spirit. As we got into the groove, we bounced around the neighborhood hitting up different murals. Each new backdrop was a blank canvas - from bold abstract pieces to wild intricate art.

My mission was blending every element into a seamless vibe for each frame. I guided her through diff poses while letting her personality take the spotlight. The warm afternoon light eventually gave way to overcast skies, so she got a mix of contrasty and hazy natural-light portraits and hard-hitting flash shots that punched through the clouds for epic drama - best of both worlds! Her genuine moods and expressions nailed that senior year portrait experience. As her photographer, I aimed to craft a cinematic narrative - a visual story arcing across this major milestone in her life's journey. The neighborhood's eclectic backdrop was the perfect setting for capturing that aesthetic vibe.

Mountain Ridge Lion Softball Seniors Savor Their Final Home Game | Phoenix Senior Photographer ANJEANETTE PHOTOGRAPHY

Thursday night, the Mountain Ridge High School softball field was the site of both celebration and bittersweet goodbyes as the seniors on the Lion softball team played their final home game. The annual Senior Night tradition allows the team's upperclassmen to be honored and create one last core memory at the field where they've spent so many hours honing their skills over the past four years.

The five seniors - Elle (#6), Amanda (#11), Nataleigh (#12), KB (#16), G (#17), and Courtney (#18) - were treated to a night full of personalized fanfare and recognition. As each senior embarked on a sentimental "final walk" around the bases before the game, they were showered with gifts and warm wishes from their underclassman teammates at every base. Ribbon leis, long-stemmed softball "roses”, and customized gifts awaited them, presented with heartfelt hugs.

You could feel the bonds of camaraderie and sisterhood pulsing through the dugout as the team's leaders reminisced about their journeys. The shared laughter, hardships, and triumphs that forge such tight-knit teams were evident. Like family sending off one of their own, it was an evening intertwined with pride, nostalgia, and just a tinge of sadness at the finality of it all.

After their sentimental lap, each senior and her parents joined me on the pitcher's mound for a family photo. The gamut of emotions was on display - radiant smiles blending with misty eyes as the significance of the moment sank in. You couldn't help but marvel at how swiftly young athletes morph into mature, self-assured adults ready to chase their dreams.

Elle, Amanda, Nataleigh, KB, G, and Courtney - I wish you nothing but endless success in your next chapters. The impression you've left on Mountain Ridge will resound long after those cleats unbuckle for the last time.

As a senior portrait photographer, I'm always excited when a client comes to me with a distinct vision for their session. That's precisely what happened with Gia, a smart and confident senior from Mountain Ridge High School's Class of 2024. Instead of the typical desert scenes, Gia envisioned a lush, romantic setting filled with vibrant greens and blooming florals – a perfect representation of her own radiant spirit.

Our adventure began at the Scottsdale Greenway, a verdant oasis in the heart of the city. We strolled through the winding paths, the lush grass, towering trees, and even and underpass off the wash ha! It all provided a stunning backdrop for Gia's portraits. We played with different angles under the sun, then the softbox clouds rolled in, her unique personality to shine through the photos organically.

After basking in the Greenway's natural splendor, we ventured to the Waterfront at Fashion Square, where the upscale urban backdrop of Old Towne provided a striking contrast to our earlier setting. With the tranquil waterfront property as our stage, Gia's portraits took on a metro flair. Spring in Arizona is magical. The perfect temperatures, lush greenery, and blooming Jacoranda that smell like grape gum and purple Tulip trees created an idyllic canvas for Gia's portraits, much like a vibrant painting coming to life before our eyes.

From the moment Sarah stepped in front of my lens, her confidence and artistic flair radiated like a burst of color. With her gorgeous, multi-hued hair and a smile that could brighten any room, she exuded a chill, calm energy that made capturing her true self an absolute pleasure.

One thing that struck me about Sarah was her willingness to embrace her authenticity. Unlike many seniors who feel pressured to conform to traditional notions of how they should look or act, Sarah celebrated her individuality without apology. She didn't need to force a cheesy grin or strike over-the-top poses – her natural charisma and self-assurance were more than enough to create stunning portraits.

Not all portraits need to be big, toothy smiles. I don't ‘make’ seniors "cheese" for the camera. Instead, I want their portraits to reflect their personalities and unique qualities, just like Sarah's did. As a senior portrait photographer, I've come to realize that a great portrait transcends big toothy grins. I love a big smile, and personally, I am a big goofy grinner- but a seniors portraits are about THEM. Their portraits are about unveiling the unique spirit and individuality of each person I work with.

I love being a senior portrait photographer. It's not just about capturing a likeness; it's about telling a story, freezing a moment in time, and preserving the unique spirit of a person on the cusp of a new chapter in their life.

As a student at Sandra Day O'Connor High School, Ryan's high school experience was a whirlwind of activities. Can you imagine juggling competitive marching band, ROTC, playing electric guitar, and being a member of the track team to mention a few? When it came time for his senior portraits, Ryan wanted to capture not just his academic achievements but also the passions that defined his high school journey.

Into the Wild Blue Yonder

With his parents help, we went above (flight pun sorry) and beyond to create a one-of-a-kind experience for this exceptional senior. Ryan's parents had a special surprise in store for him at the end of his senior portrait session. Ryan recently received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy – a dream come true for this aspiring aviator. To celebrate this momentous achievement, his parents arranged for me to visit the airport for portraits with a friends plane, and then Lt Colonel Daniel Deahler, USAF (ret.) took Ryan on a flight, soaring through the skies in an experimental plane!

Can you imagine the thrill of capturing Ryan's portraits with this backdrop? It was as if his dreams of becoming a pilot had already taken flight and I got to be there to document it!

These portraits tell the story of a young man who embraced every opportunity, who dared to dream big, and who left an indelible mark on the halls of Sandra Day O'Connor High School. As Ryan embarks on his next adventure at the United States Air Force Academy, his senior portraits will serve as a cherished reminder of the journey that brought him to this point. It will be amazing to see him to continue reaching for the stars, knowing that his dreams truly have no limits.

Let's talk about Piper's senior pictures! Piper’s Phoenix senior pictures Action package took us to Gold Canyon’s Boyce Thompson Arbetorum, one of the most beautiful areas in the southern eastern side of Tonto National Forest.  

This sweet class of 2024 senior is a student at Anthem Prep active in her church community, volunteering, writing, & crafting. You could just feel her bubbly, upbeat personality shining through in every single shot. Brighter than the sun, before and after it dipped behind clouds to make the sky a giant dramatic softbox!

Can we talk about her outfits for a sec? Piper had not one, not two, but FIVE outfits for her session - perfectly centered around her signature sunny yellow color! I was excited when she showed me her outfit ideas a few weeks before the session when we chatted with mom...you can never have too many outfit changes during a senior portrait session. Ok well you COULD, especially if you change fromon e to the next slowly ha! But 3-5 outfits seemsto be the perfect amount to keep the session fresh and full of variety whileshowingoff aspects of your fashion personalities. Seriously, not having enough outfits is such a bigger problem than having too many. Think about it - if you only have one or two looks, we're really limited for your portraits. But if you bring a whole wardrobe of cute attire? We can switch up the vibe and take advantage of all the amazing scenery around us.

With Piper's five fits, we were able to capture her bright, cheerful essence at multiple scenic spots around the arboretum grounds. Those brilliant yellow hues popped so beautifully against the lush greenery and desert flora. I'm obsessed! Now you know how I feel about wardrobe changes during sessions. The more, the merrier! An abundance of outfits equals an abundance of amazing portraits. It's honestly a struggle for me to photograph an entire senior session with just one or two looks. I always see a little more of a persons vibe with each outfit.

Seniors, if Piper's vibrant pictures have you eager for your own portrait session, get on my calendar ASAP! I'm already booking fast for the Class of 2025. This year, I actually had to turn seniors away because my schedule was completely full by mid-February. The popular dates go so quickly!

In the end, Piper's sunny senior portraits turned out absolutely beautifully. Her bright yellow outfits were the perfect embodiment of her joyful, optimistic spirit. I'm so grateful she took my advice about wardrobe changes to heart - it resulted in a vibrant, multi-faceted gallery her family will treasure forever.

For the past four years, Kaitlyn's been a rockstar (well, technically a bass clarinetist!) in the Mountain Ridge Wind Ensemble and Marching Band. I’m blessed to have been there to document a lot of it and watch her grow! That's right, yours truly! With the sun hidden in clouds, Maggie's senior portrait session at The Ghost Ship and Bookmans took on an air of mystery and intrigue. This was a fitting backdrop for a young woman whose artistic vision embraces the enigmatic and the unexplored.

Maggie is no ordinary high school senior. She is an artist and photographer in her own right, with a dark and captivating aesthetic that draws inspiration from the depths of the unknown. Her love for pirates and the haunting melodies of her guitar strings perfectly encapsulate her fascination with the mysterious. She is NOT gloomy shadows however, but a gorgeous spirit who finds beauty in things some may consider dark. An intelligent, romantic, and artistic realist.

As Albert Einstein so eloquently put it, "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science." Maggie embodies this sentiment, using her own camera lens to capture the beauty that lies beyond the veil of the ordinary.

In the shelves of Bookmans Maggie was in her element, surrounded by the wisdom, music, and stories of those who have dared to explore the boundaries of the unknown. At the Ghost Ship bar downtown, we ran around like excited kids at Disney whose favorite rides are The Haunted Mansion and The Pirates of the Caribbean! So many curious corners and gestures!

Through her lens @mag.spics, Maggie invites us to embrace the mysteries that surround us, to revel in the beauty that lies just beyond our grasp. Her senior portrait session is a testament to being yourself and expressing your true personality- transcend the ordinary and unlock the extraordinary! Abe Class of 2022 | Anjeanette Photography Senior portraits Phoenix Az (Copy)

Gorgeous girl and gorgeous smile- but what you can’t see is the strength and determination in every photo. This spunky fun senior has been thru multiple foot surgeries, and was on crutches for this entire session although her Doctor gave the all-clear for travel and portraits! Don’t worry, mom and I made sure she took frequent breaks and didn’t push this passionate kid. Safety first always, no photo is worth risking her health.

Resolved not to be slowed down, she flew to Arizona from Montana to get photos like ones she fondly remembered from being a kid and playing in the backyard of her grandparents to sunsets with Sonoran Cacti silhouettes. So of course the best place for cacti and dreamy desert views in Phoenix is the Botanical Gardens. No sunsets of this rare overcast afternoon, but Abe’s smile beams away the clouds, and cloudy days are lovely for soft shadows and vibrant color.

This northern plains basketball and volleyball star has beaten the odds before- and will again! On the road to healing and enjoying her senior year!

It was a dark and stormy Sunday…well not exactly but it WAS overcast, winter rain was threatening, and it was cloudy as all get out. Do people still say that? Thing is - I hate cloudy days! Clouds are a favorite of many photographers with their ‘giant softbox’ ‘saturated colors’ and blah blah blah, but not for me. I didn’t move to Arizona to see no clouds! As a professional you gotta be ready for anything, and able to make any condition work. So I prefer the golden hour backlit glow. USUALLY that is. This session was so dramatic and epic I almost change my mind about cloudy days!

Thomas’ easy, relaxed smile and fun loving personality make any day light up- aw! He is a cute kid! A member of the Class of 2024, he holds the distinguished role of Drum Major in the Eagle Pride Marching Band with a dedication to music and leadership shines through in every frame of his senior pictures. As an Arizona native, Thomas is no stranger to the desert heat, but with graduation on the horizon, he's eagerly anticipating the cooler temperatures and new adventures awaiting him at NAU.

As a photographer, there are few things more rewarding than capturing moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. This past week, I had the pleasure of being featured by ProPrints Lab, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share my work with their audience. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to ProPrints Lab for a fantastic collaboration and for showcasing my photographs.

I also want to take a moment to express my gratitude to each and every senior and their families who entrusted me with capturing their once-in-a-lifetime senior year memories. Your trust and support mean the world to me, and I am honored to have been a part of this special chapter in your lives.

Seeing some of my incredible clients featured this week has been an absolute joy. From heartfelt candid shots to posed portraits that exude personality, each photograph tells a unique story and reflects the essence of the individual senior. It has been a privilege to document these moments and to witness the excitement and anticipation that comes with this monumental time in a young person's life.

To the seniors: thank you for allowing me to freeze these precious moments in time, moments that you will look back on with fondness for years to come. Your enthusiasm and authenticity made each session a joy, and I am grateful for the opportunity to capture your unique personalities and passions.

And to the parents and families of these seniors: thank you for your unwavering support and for allowing me to be a part of your journey. Sunsets have a magical way of painting the sky with vibrant hues, creating the perfect backdrop for capturing memorable moments. I had the pleasure of photographing a sunset mini session with Ellie, a Class of 2024 senior from Mountain Ridge High School.

Senior pictures are more than just photographs; they are a celebration of achievements and a reflection of personality. Ellie's senior photos captured her essence perfectly, showcasing her radiant smile and infectious enthusiasm for life.

Throughout her high school journey, Ellie was actively involved in various activities, including band and winterguard. These pursuits not only enriched her high school experience but also shaped her into the remarkable individual she is today. Incorporating elements of her interests into the photoshoot like her with her flute and a few dancers leaps added a personal touch, capturing the essence of who Ellie is as a person.

As the sun dipped below the horizon behind a wall of clouds, the greyness was transformed to a painting with the sky in shades of orange and pink. We wrapped up the session almost in the dark, which I am ausre was a little concerning to Ellie and her folks, but being a flash and natural light photographer (aka any available light) I knew I captured the portraits without fake AI skies added later- because flash photography allows you to set the background in camera to capture what’s really there, then turn on the flash to capture your subject!

I was so excited for what we captured with an amazing young lady. Graduation portraits serve as a timeless reminder of a significant milestone in one's life, encapsulating the anticipation and excitement of embarking on a new chapter.

Sunset sessions offer the perfect opportunity to capture senior pictures that are not only visually stunning but also deeply meaningful. Ellie's photoshoot was a testament to the beauty of this fleeting moment in time, serving as a lasting memento of her high school journey and the bright future that lies ahead.
