Hey class of 2016 & 2017-if your browsing for the perfect poses and environments on Pinterest for your senior pictures do not forget to check out my Anjeanette Illustration Senior Photography board! Each of the seniors on my board are my real clients. They just look like professional models! Each of them are amazing intelligent humans from real life, with the ambition and dreams to prove it. We worked together planning the perfect indoor and or outdoor environments that speak about who each individual is, their hopes for the future, goals and paths they were embarking on as they completed high school and entered more independent life.
Now, we have all heard the condescending statement “when you get in the real world” as if the life you are actually living right now is somehow less important. Who you are now heavily shapes your first few years after high school, and while so many changes are to come documenting and remember your experiences in school is important. Now COUNTS. This is real life-like I always say Memories are for a lifetime and not just a news feed. Of course you will want to share you images-so will I! So I will be sharing with publishers, and across my Instagram and social media. I just want to stress though that it is just important to preserve the images physical via prints or albums that will carry on long after technology has changed-ain’t nobody passing down usb drives and cds in 20 years. Don’t believe me? How many times have you used a floppy disc or Jaz drives? My senior photos are saved on a less than 1 gigabyte Jaz drive. Hilarious, they must be half the size of a postage stamp??? And we didn’t have internet in those day. Carved in stone and everything. I am so thankful for the real photographic prints my parents had made!
Your senior pictures are portraits that should capture who you are right now in real life, treasure to keep and look back on for your families as well as yourself as you grow even more into the amazing people you already are. And heck isn’t it just fun to dress up however YOU want and play? No matchy matchy with your big or little siblings this time. It's all about you- and your kinda big deal :) This is a session full of fun and expression and you are calling the shots- literally! Expressing yourself and being the sole focus of a session is empowering! Anjeanette Illustration Seniors plan their multiple outfits and together we discuss incorporating your distinct personality into your session. All the images will be lovely, and plenty of favorites for parents. Additionally, there will be dramatic and stunning landscapes and portraits that showcase all that you are and hope to be. Classic background studio portraiture is available as well- with rich detail and beautifully lighting patterns. Modern and minimal- yet so much more than just the same exact cookie cutter wall every other fellow student from school is leaning against. Finding the right senior photographer is a very individual choice, because you want that person to understand your vision for your session- what will become the portraits hanging at your banquets and graduation parties, and in the hallways of your childhood homes! And I may not be the perfect photographer for you. Honesty! Of course I want to be chosen to bring your session dreams to life, but if I am ok with not being the perfect fit for everyone as I want everyone to get what they want. I am a wee bit weird in that way maybe, which is definitely something about me you should know if we do work together. Remember to check out the portfolios of senior photographers and see the images they consistently make for other...you should see their work and say "YES! This is what I want!" with excitement! That is such a key to a fantastic successful senior session- and our area is so blessed with a variety of amazing photographers with unique styles, so any senior in the Hendersonville, Tn and Nashville, Tn area has the perfect opportunity to find exactly what they want.
So, what do you want to ‘say’ about yourself? What are your favorite activities? Many schools happily allow sessions on campus with uniforms if there are music, drama, art, or athletic activities you enjoy. Libraries are fantastic spots for unique photos. Bring your furry best friend! Bring your books, instruments, and ideas! Is there a special area in town you like to hang out at? Do you daydream of vibrant lush fields fashion, dense mysterious woods, heroic sports posters, or gothic romanticisim? Do you have an epic artistic scene in mind, or a grungy urban album cover when you imagine your photos? Do not hold back- let’s make some magic. As clean and simple, or striking and interesting as you are and can imagine we can create together!
