The Arizona Marching Band Association Division I Championships crackled with electric energy, the culmination of months of tireless practice and unwavering dedication. And at the heart of it all, amidst the booming brass, thundering drums, and dazzling visuals, I had the incredible privilege of capturing each AzMBA marching bands group portraits.

From the moment I stepped onto the Mountain Pointe High campus I was swept up in the whirlwind of band spirit. The air hummed with a symphony of anticipation, uniforms crisply pressed, instruments gleaming under the sun. Faces, etched with nervous excitement, transformed into fierce determination as the first notes soared skyward. As the AzMBA team marched onto the field, a collective roar from the stands ignited the atmosphere, setting the stage for a performance etched in memory.

To all of the bands marching and performing at the AzMBA championships this year with such heart and fire, let these photographs be a lasting ode to your season. A testament to the countless hours, the tireless dedication, the unwavering spirit that defines the marching band experience.

Forget for a moment the roar of the crowd, the sting of defeat, the adrenaline rush of victory. Imagine, instead, a sun-drenched field, laughter echoing against the bleachers, and a group of teenagers, faces aglow with the camaraderie of the team, the passion for the game. Parents and coaches, this is the essence of high school soccer, and its a feeling I remember from both the players and parents and as your Phoenix Team Photographer!

Recently, I had the privilege of chronicling the Shadow Mountain High School Class of 2024 soccer teams - boys and girls - in a fast-paced and fun photo session. It wasn't just about taking portraits, though certainly that is why I was there. This was about telling the story of a season, of sweat and grit, of triumph and tears, of brotherhood and sisterhood forged in the heat of competition.

I worked to capture individual portraits that showcased each player's unique flair on the ball, to group shots that froze moments of team camaraderie. Photos should resonate on multiple levels, offering players a tangible reminder of their journey, coaches a powerful tool for team building and motivation, and parents a treasure trove of memories to cherish long after the last game is played.

And here's the thing, Paradise Valley School district parents and coaches: your teams deserve this same chance to shine. Every athlete who pours their heart onto the field, for every team that bleeds spirit and teamwork, deserves a banner and the tangible memories of photos to share.

As a photographer specializing in capturing the essence of the Class of 2024 through senior pictures and graduation portraits, I've had the privilege of witnessing incredible stories unfold in front of my lens. Liesa and Caden's journey is one that tugs at the heartstrings and makes you say “awwwww”. On the last day of 2023, Liesa and Caden celebrated their Class of 2024 journey with a portrait session from Anthem to the vista of Sunset Point. Even though it was a little overcast these two radiated energy and optimism. Their portraits capture not just a moment in time, but the perseverance and spirit that will see them conquer whatever comes their way. ✨ 

COSPE “Teenage Emotions”

These two remarkable individuals first crossed paths as percussionists in the State Champion Mountain Ridge Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. From the cadence of their drumbeats to the harmonious notes they created together, it was evident that their connection extended beyond the musical realm. As their senior year approached, we decided to freeze these moments of camaraderie in time with a special BFF senior portrait session.

Anthem Park and Sunset Point provided the perfect canvas for our photographic adventure, where we went from a giant sky sized softbox of a soft cloudy day to being bathed in the Arizona sunset. The landscape served as a backdrop, mirroring the journey these two have shared throughout their high school years.

Navigating the waterfalls of Anthem, we captured nervous giggles to genuine laughter and shared memories that define Liesa and Caden's relationship. Later we drove up to the edge of the sky above the Phoenix Valley to Sunset Point surrounded by the Bradshaw Mountains.

To Liesa and Caden, as you stand on the brink of new adventures, may these graduation portraits be a cherished reminder of the incredible relationship and lifetime memories you've built together. To the parents reading this, I hope this post inspires you to celebrate the unique friendships and relationships that have enriched your child's high school experience.

Celebrating the Mountain Ridge Wind Ensemble and their phenomenal achievement: snagging a coveted spot performing at the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA) Conference!

The Mountain Ridge High School Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at this year’s AMEA Conference. For Phoenix orchestra bands, the AMEA Conference is like the Olympics of music education. Being handpicked to perform means you're among the absolute best in the state, showcasing your talent and dedication to a room full of music educators and fellow musicians. It's a monumental accomplishment and a massive feather in anyone's musical cap.

So, when the Ridge Wind Ensemble reached out to Anjeanette Photography, based right here in Peoria, Arizona, to capture their official AMEA portraits, well, let's just say I did a little victory dance of my own! Go Ridge!!

The ensemble and their director Mr. Aaron Vogel are very thankful to the ABODA board for this recognition. The performance will be at the Mesa Convention Center Feb. 2nd 2024.

Today's spotlight shines on Matthew, a dude with wanderlust in his soul and a future at NAU etched on his horizon. Forget about stuffy studios and forced smiles; Matthew craved a backdrop as wild and free as his spirit, and what better fit than the Sonoran Mountain Desert's rugged beauty?

Golden sunlight was bleeding over saguaro silhouettes, casting long shadows across the dusty trails. Add in a cool breeze whispering through prickly pear patches and the distant call of a coyote – nature's symphony in full swing. No really, we heard them that’s not just poetic bs! It was the perfect spot for Matthew to paint his senior portraits with the desert's vibrant brushstrokes.

Matthew soaked it all in. You could practically see the gears of his mind turning, maybe dreaming of future hikes, mountain expeditions, and maybe even a touch of stargazing under NAU's open skies. He spoke of his passion for environmental science, his plans to explore the world's hidden corners, and the excitement of leaving his mark on the planet. And in those moments, the desert wasn't just a backdrop; it became a symbol of the challenges and possibilities that awaited him.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the cacti in fiery hues, we captured the essence of Matthew's journey. These weren't just senior portraits; they were a visual narrative of his transformation from high schooler to adventurer, to a young man ready to embrace the wild unknown.

Class of 2024, Meet Your New Senior Pic Muse: Ben's Classic Car Meets Streetwear Symphony

Forget awkward yearbook photos and cheesy backdrops. Phoenix seniors, it's time to level up your graduation portrait game. Enter Ben, Class of 2024, and a swaggering testament to the power of vision, personality, and a killer vintage Corvette Stingray. Let's be real, senior pics can sometimes feel like a forced march through tired tropes. A lot of guys just don’t get into them because they completely disinterested in stale and cheesy looks - but it doesn’t have to be that way! I was SO EXCITED for this session, Ben knew exactly what he wanted from a hip studio, to pose ideas, and urban backdrops. He took the reins and drove this session straight into a whole new lane. Think streetwear swagger meets classic car cool, with a dash of timeless style and a whole lot of personality.

Think Iconic Detroit Carharrt Jacket, graphic tees, and kicks from boots to sneakers that would make any magazine. It def gave me Lewys feelings! And then there was the Corvette– a cherry & chrome masterpiece that ALMOST stole the show (don't worry, Ben, you held your own!).

This wasn't just a photo shoot; it was an experience to celebrate senior year before Ben conquers the world (one killer outfit at a time).

I am fresh off an epic senior portrait session that left me buzzing with inspiration! Today, I’m spotlighting Ryan, a dude who's as versatile as the Arizona landscape itself. Ryan isn't your average senior. This guy packs a double punch (pun intended!), excelling both in the serene world of karate and the high-energy realm of the Arizona State Champion Mountain Ridge marching band drumline. So, how do you capture that kind of dynamism in a single session? We headed straight for Lake Pleasant, where mountains meet water and senior photos take on a whole new vibe. The golden Arizona sun bathed the lake in a warm glow as Ryan posed against the backdrop of rugged cliffs. We found this epic rock overlooking the lake to create a portrait in his Italian jacket from a recent trip overseas!

Then, with a quick wardrobe change and a mischievous twinkle in his eye, Ryan transformed into James Bond in his suit! Love it when senior bring a formal outfit.

As the sun dipped towards the horizon, painting the sky in fiery hues, we set off a few Enola Gaye colored smoke. With laser-sharp focus, his movements precise and graceful, Ryan unleashed his kata, detailed patterns of movements executed as a specified series of a variety of Karate moves. The sunset glow behind saguaro cacti set the perfect stage for silhouettes showing his talent and hard work.

But of course, senior portraits are more than just showcasing talents. They're about capturing the essence of who you are – the quiet moments, the genuine smiles, the hopes and dreams simmering beneath the surface.

By the end of the session, we had a collection of images that told Ryan's story – a story of strength, passion, and a spirit that's forever in tune with its own rhythm. These senior photos aren't just social media or yearbook filler; they're a reminder of who Ryan is and who he's becoming, a visual echo of the amazing journey that lies ahead.

If you haven't been to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Gold Canyon, Arizona, let me tell you, it's a photographer's paradise! Imagine towering cacti, vibrant desert flowers, and dramatic rock formations – the perfect backdrop for capturing Phoenix Country Day senior Lanae's unique personality and celebrating her upcoming graduation.

The day brought moody clouds and golden sunlight filtered through the branches of ancient cacti, and no matter the weather conditions Lanae's confidence and energy shone brighter. We explored the diverse landscape, from the cacti-studded trails to the lush green meadows, each location offering a new opportunity to create stunning senior photos.

But there was more to this session than picture-perfect poses – they're not just about capturing a moment in time, they're about capturing the essence of who you are and the journey you've taken. By the end of the session, we had a collection of photographs that truly reflected Lanae's spirit – vibrant, confident, and full of hope for the future. As an Arizona Valley based photographer AND Sun Devil mom myself, I’ve photographed countless Arizona State University seniors on the cusp of graduation. Each one has a unique story to tell, and Madison, an accomplished scholar with a passion for literature, is no exception. Madison’s senior portrait session was a true delight. 

We took the adventure to Scottsdale, Arizona, where we explored the enchanting Butterfly Wonderland where the vibrant colors and fluttering wings created a magical backdrop to the cozy corners of The Poisoned Pen Bookstore. Madison's senior pictures session was a unique blend of nature's beauty and the magic found within the pages of a good book.

Next, we ventured to The Poisoned Pen Bookstore, a haven for bookworms like Madison. Surrounded by towering bookshelves and the comforting aroma of old books, she posed and browsed for favorites novels and childhood picture books to include in portraits. The bookstore was a vibe of a  metaphor for the vast knowledge Madison has acquired during her time at ASU, a place where each book represents a chapter of her academic journey.

Jacob Sunnyslope Class of 2024 | Phoenix Graduation Pictures & High School Senior Portrait sessions

I've been capturing the senior portraits of athletes for many years, but Jacob, a football captain at Sunnyslope Viking High School, ranks among the best. Jacob is a force to be reckoned with on the field, but off the field, he's a down-to-earth guy with a fantastic smile. We adventured into the picturesque landscapes of the Paradise Valley palm lined lanes, to the Vikings stadium, then we kicked it up a notch by venturing out to the stunning Lake Pleasant. The change of scenery added a whole new dimension to Jacob's senior portraits. Against the serene backdrop of the lake, we documented portraits of a young man transitioning to the wider world beyond high school. It was an adventure that mirrored the exciting journey Jacob is about to embark on.

By the end of those intense Friday Night Lights, he was understandably worn out, but when it came time for his senior pictures the next day, he powered through like a true champion. The football stadium provided a backdrop that resonated with Jacob's passion for the game. We captured those fantastic smiles and cool, tough vibes that make Jacob the charismatic captain guy is.

 I recently had the pleasure of capturing incredible Dominick, against the vibrant backdrop of downtown Phoenix for his senior portraits. This session was nothing short of amazing! Dominick is not your typical high school graduate; he's on the fast track to a future in cyber-forensics, currently interning with the Kudelski Group while completing his degree. That’s correct- all while finishing his senior year of HIGH SCHOOL.How awesome is that?

Our adventure began in the heart of downtown Phoenix, a place that Dominick loves. Dominick came into our session with a clear vision and a sense of style. He wanted to capture that city vibe and his passion for technology, so we set out to explore the vibrant alleyways and modern architecture of downtown Phoenix. As we strolled through the urban landscape, it was clear that this city holds a special place in his heart. The tall buildings, the bustling streets – it was the perfect setting for his senior pictures. The energy of the city matched Dominick's enthusiasm for his upcoming graduation from the Phoenix Coding Academy.

Dominick's love for the city was palpable in every shot. He pointed out his favorite spots and shared stories of his adventures. I could tell that Phoenix was more than just a place to him; it was a part of his identity. With each shutter click, I captured Dominick's unique vibe: his confidence, his intelligence, and his fun personality. Kennady is fire while preparing to graduate Northern University's School of Nursing, while already working in her unit! She decided to celebrate this giant achievement with a senior portrait photoshoot at the top of the Valley- surrounded by and out glowing the city/

Kennady radiates an inner light that shines through her soft and laughing smiles. Her passion for her chosen profession is evident in her eyes, a spark that ignites the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Her mom joined us for her senior portrait session, and I couldn't help but see her beaming sense of pride, witnessing the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by her baby girl.

She chose the picturesque backdrop of downtown Phoenix, its vibrant hues and buildings windows mirroring Kennady's infectious enthusiasm. Against the backdrop of the Reniassance Hotel, Kennady posed with her nursing scrubs & stethoscope, symbols of her commitment to her calling. The warm sunlight cast a golden glow on her face, accentuating her genuine warmth and compassion.

Throughout the session, Kennady's laughter echoed through the air, her infectious energy filling the space with joy. We captured her in moments of candid reflection, lost in thought as she contemplated the future, her face aglow with dreams waiting to unfold. Daphne, a senior at Sunnyslope High School, met up with me the afternoon before her final homecoming dance for an awesome session! It's hard to believe how fast time has flown. Senior year is a reminder that childhood doesn’t last forever- but that the transition to adulthood and beyond should still be fun!

I recently photographed Olivia's senior portrait session at the stunning Boyce Thompson Arboretum. It was an unforgettable experience capturing this amazing young woman as she embarks on her senior year.

Olivia is part of the Class of 2024, and her enthusiasm for this milestone year was truly contagious. As we ventured through the Arboretum, she told me about her Senior Sunrise that day at the football stadium, inncocent fun pranks by the senior class, and upcoming milestones like the last homecoming, and her plans in the medical field after hogh school. Golden rays of the sun played peek-a-boo through the lush greenery, creating the most magical setting. It was a day filled with laughter and candid moments.

When I asked Olivia about her choice of location, she knew she wanted as much greenery as we could possibly find in Arizona- and Boyce was the top of list for this reason! Even after the end of what I call “crispy season” (summer) the Master Gardners at Boyce has tropical lush forest areas, huge trees, and huge flower bushes everywhere still in a spring like bloom. The variety of backdrops at the Arboretum allowed us to capture Olivia's portraits in many ways. From a serene ivy covered veranda to vibrant wildflowers, each location added a unique touch to her senior photos. We even managed to sneak in a few shots amidst the iconic cacti, creating a beautifully harmonious blend of nature and Olivia's spirit.

Olivia's vibrant personality shone through in every frame. Her smile was infectious, and her eyes sparkled with excitement for the future. It was clear that she was savoring every moment of this day.

I love my job folks! Honored that Olivia nd her mother Jaime chose me for these milestone photographs! Olivia's session was a wonderful reminder of the significance of capturing these cherished moments as we transition into new chapters of our lives. It was a true honor to be a part of her senior year, and I can't wait to see where this Class of 2024 grad will go.

Anjeanette uses her education as a fine artist and digital painter in her photography to make the most of your moments. She uses both the rich, artistic textures of Natural Light & dramatic, clean lines of Flash Photography - to give the BEST of both worlds to your valuable memories and be ready & experienced for any situation! In business since 2008, she studied photography in high school and college, developing film and educating herself in digital later through research, workshops, classes, & 8 years as a school portrait and sports photographer.

Clients have included brides & grooms, families, musicians & artists, & a hip artisan soap company. She gives back to her community back as a volunteer children & family photographer for schools, band, non-profit organizations, and church. When she’s not awkwardly writing about herself in the third person, she is praying, painting, reading, and exploring the world with her husband and children and her trusty National Parks Passport.

What about blemishes?

Everyone gets zits. Everyone.

Don’t worry about em I gotcha!!! Because while a zit or two or even cystic concerns don’t diminish your awesomeness in any way, I don’t think anyone should have to have a permanent reminder of a temporary zit. They do go away, a few days later or a few years. It gets better, and having a painful reminder of a time when skin was not doing what you wanted forever on grandma’s wall? Not fair!

Don’t worry! Everyone has days with less-than-perfect skin. Applying makeup properly can help. After your session I go over each image to remove minor skin blemishes. However, I do not do extensive body modifications: my policy is that if it’s temporary I remove it. If it’s permanent it stays! Be loving and accepting of who you are and the natural beauty you possess.

Senior portraits are about remembering and amazing time in your life...NOT that one time you had that huge pimple. Or even a whole bunch of them. What should shine through is YOU and your celebration of this time in your life!

Don’t let acne stop you, or embarrass you, or make you feel less than all you are. It shouldn’t be memorialized in your senior portraits. I can take care of that so you can feel free to have fun and feel confident!

Professional makeup

If you are worried about skin texture or blemishes, I strongly suggest professional makeup before every photo session. I don’t include it in the price because it is not everyone’s vibe- some don’t wear makeup and seriously some of you are the pros at your own makeup!!!

I still really recommend it for practical reasons like skin concerns and I feel like it’s worth spoiling yourself. From the glam girls rocking a full cat-eye and red lips, to the natural girls who just wear gloss, professional makeup will make you look like you.

Sometimes regular makeup ends up looking dull and flat on camera. Using a pro makes your makeup look camera-ready. Pro makeup evens out skin tone and hides any skin imperfections. Sure, I include basic professional retouch editing for everyone,  but there is something about a professional artist’s makeup magic that boosts confidence and makes extra expensive retouching unnecessary.

Everyone gets zits. Everyone. A professional makeup artist makes your skin look flawless. And the pro’s makeup stays on all day and doesn’t melt in the hot Arizona heat. You look your best all day! Plus it’s just a fun exciting experience! 

The Bra and Stubble Clause

Everyone should come to their session ready to be photographed as they appear!

I will let you know if something peeks out or a hair needs adjusting (what are those hanger strings in shirts called? Most braces and bra straps can be removed but there is an extra fee. And honestly, the stubble removal editing always looks a little weird! shave before you come!!

I’ll let you know at the session if I see it!) It’s probably too late after the gallery is delivered, because while I can edit stubble and undergarments out…the fee is an additional $50 per image.
