David wanted to incorporate his admiration for the music of Kanye West into his senior pictures is an expression of his individuality. As a high school graduate on the cusp of new adventures, he wants to celebrate his unique interests and passions. Senior pictures provide an opportunity to showcase one's personality, and for David, that means honoring the impact Kanye West's music and artistry has had on his life.
David senior session in downtown Phoenix was especially significant for me- because his mother is an accomplished and well known local photographer as well- being chosen by another photographer to capture such huge moments in a families life was an honor and blessing!

/College graduation is a pivotal milestone in one's life, signifying years of hard work, personal growth, and academic achievement. Trevor graduated from ASU School of Engineering in December, with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and is currently a Production Assistant with Underdog Lighting and Grip while he pursues Engineering opportunities. We met up for Grad photos around campus at the iconic Tempe campus hitting all the Sun Devil favorites.

In Arizona, with our diverse landscapes and unique natural beauty, I make selecting the best time to take senior portraits easy as I have already considered weather, lighting, and different areas that express the character of our state - so that I get you the best results in stunning photographs that truly capture the essence of the senior and this desert wonderland.

Arizona is known for its arid climate, characterized by hot summers and mild winters- and its a senior photographers paradise with all the variety and availability to have sessions year round. To avoid the scorching heat of the summer months, it is advisable to plan the session during the fall, winter, or spring seasons, or to have a summer session in studio or a unique indoor location. Autumn offers comfortable temperatures, golden foliage, and vibrant colors, providing a picturesque backdrop for portraits. Winter brings cooler temperatures, which can be a refreshing change, and the possibility of capturing unique shots against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains in northern Arizona. Spring brings the bloom of desert wildflowers, offering a vibrant and colorful setting for senior portraits.

A crucial element to consider is lighting and time of day. Arizona is known for its abundant sunshine, which can create harsh shadows and intense highlights during midday, which is why I avoid middle-of-the-day sessions unless they are indoors.
To achieve softer and more flattering lighting, I highly recommend scheduling the session during the "Golden Hour." The Golden Hour refers to the period shortly after sunrise or before sunset when the light is softer, warmer, and more diffused. During this time, the Phoenix desert landscape is bathed in a beautiful golden glow, creating a magical atmosphere for senior portraits. This enchanting light adds depth, warmth, and a touch of romance to the photographs, enhancing the overall aesthetic.
Golden Hour
Warm golden light, high contrast, stunning glow….The best light of the day for outdoor shoots! I start golden hour senior sessions two hours before sunset to maximize the wow! Awesome for highlighting the best skin, colors, and dimension in photos.
Sunset photos
Just as or after Golden Hour when the sun dips behind the mountains surrounding the Phoenix Valley is prime time for striking sunsets. Never can guarantee- but when there is on Arizona has the best!
Blue Hour after Sunset- NIGHT SHOTS
Dramatic, bold, colorful- lights! Night shots as unique as you are a great opportunity to shine. This is at the end & included in most action sessions- if we plan it right we can have Golden Hour, Sunset, and Blue Hour night photos in one session!
Sunrise/Morning Sessions
Beat the heat! Cooler temps and cooler colour tones- this is the best light in my opinion for Light & Airy style photos. Sunrise sessions start 15 minutes before sunrise so no sleeping in hahah
Studio or Indoor Sessions- Anytime!

LOVE IT when a senior chooses a unique place for photos!! This was a hoot, I had a ton of poses, plans, and ideas for this portion of the session ready...then the moment after we launched off the deck I started giggling realizing I didn't exactly factor in any piloting the boat aspects. It's been many years since I was any kind of sailor so thankfully it was a pretty manageable paddle boat hahaha.
What a stunner!! String lights are cool, and that pink-hued sunset sure is nice, but Caeli is what REALLY lit up the Tempe Town Bridge last week!!

Dakota’s senior session started out with a bang- or more accurately a flash of lighting- but this volleyball pro and top student brought the boom! Dakota choose a travel session from Mesa’a Tonto Forest to Papago Park in Arizona for her Phoenix senior portrait session. Don’t worry we were 20 miles from the lightning but still rescheduled when we saw lightning!
The second day was absolutely SEARING hot (119!) so we took it slow with lots of water breaks...yet this kid glowed and pulled off effortless looks like a champ- and she is an Alaskan!! This weather is waaaay out of her normal comfort zone! Such an amazing job Dakota, you are a babe! Such a beauty with all the brains to match- she has multiple large scholarships setting her up for success in college! Her hard work is paying off <3

Great portraits on the rooftop at a downtown Phoenix senior sesh last week! Love Logan’s big blue eyes and the bright colors he choose for his portraits. The last ones are my favorite set of Logan’s senior photos- I LOVE SUITS! Logans dark blue tux is incredible (oh it is his- he owns it and perfectly tailored too!) love it when seniors DRESS UP!!!
