Joahua Mountain ridge Class of 2025 | Phoenix & Peoria Graduation Pictures & High School Photographer ANJEANETTE PHOTOGRAPHY
The golden Arizona sun, a sharp-dressed senior, and the timeless beauty of the Peoria Desert—Joshua’s senior mini session was everything you could want in a portrait shoot and more! This Mountain Ridge High School senior brought his A-game, and we had the best time capturing these milestone moments. It’s not every day you get to work with someone who’s so laid-back yet absolutely owns every shot.
We met up in the Peoria Desert, which always sets the stage beautifully for senior portrait sessions. The desert has this understated magic—wide open spaces, natural textures, and that incredible light Arizona is known for. Joshua arrived ready to go with two looks that perfectly balanced his personality. His first outfit was a sharp, formal vibe—tailored, polished, and perfect for those classic graduation portraits. His second look was a bit more relaxed, with a casual button-up that still said, “I’m ready to take on the world.” It was the best of both worlds!
The light that day was simply stunning. Late afternoon in the desert gives you that soft, backlit glow that makes everything pop. And oh man, did Joshua glow! Whether he was looking serious in his formal outfit or cracking a smile in the casual look, that golden light wrapped around him like a spotlight. But we didn’t just rely on the sun—we added a little flash to create some truly epic shots. It was all about balance. The natural light gave us those warm, timeless portraits, while the flash brought a dramatic, magazine-worthy flair to a few key moments.
What stood out to me most about Joshua was how effortlessly cool and chill he was during the session. Some seniors can be a little nervous in front of the camera (which is totally normal!), but Joshua made it look easy. His confidence was quiet but powerful, and his poses felt natural—never forced. You could see how comfortable he was in his own skin, and that’s exactly what senior portraits should capture.
Joshua’s session wasn’t just about taking pictures—it was about celebrating who he is at this moment in his life. Senior year is such a huge milestone, and it deserves to be documented in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. Whether it’s through a formal pose or a candid laugh, every photo tells a story.
If you’re a senior (or a parent of one!) and wondering where to take your senior pictures in Phoenix, let me just say: my favorite spot in the Peoria Desert is one of the best places to take senior photos in Arizona. It’s versatile, stunning, and has this way of making everyone look incredible. Whether you’re going for formal, casual, or something totally unique, it’s the perfect spot to capture your personality and your journey.
Joshua, thank you for trusting me to capture this milestone moment. Your confidence, chill vibes, and style made this session unforgettable. I can’t wait to see what amazing things you’ll do after graduation—you’ve got such a bright future ahead!

Brady Paradise Valley Christian Class of 2025 | Phoenix & Peoria Graduation Pictures & High School Photographer ANJEANETTE PHOTOGRAPHY
Brady’s senior portrait session was packed with adventure, personality, and just the right amount of Arizona sunshine. This Paradise Valley Christian senior brought a BMX bike, dirt ramps, and his chill vibe to the Peoria Desert—and dang, did it all come together! The whole day felt like a celebration, not just of Brady’s accomplishments, but of who he is: smart, fun, talented, and ready for the future.
Brady chose the mini session - which I literally designed around guys who just want photos for their mama and not a huge long hassle. I def don’t think longer sessions are hassles 😂 but photos are my thing, if they are NOT your thing the short and sweet mini is the way to go! Brady didn’t want 200 photos or more than a couple of outfits so the mini was the perfect fit.
Just because it’s a quick session doesn’t mean it has to be boring though- the Peoria Desert Preserve was the perfect backdrop for Brady’s session. There’s something about the desert’s raw beauty—the rugged terrain, the muted tones, and the way the light dances through the brush—that makes every photo feel timeless. But this wasn’t your typical desert shoot. Brady had a vision, and it included his BMX bike and the dirt ramps tucked away in the Peoria Preserve. Yes, we hit the ramps, and yes, it was amazing!
We started the session as the late afternoon light softened, creating that golden, dreamy glow photographers adore. Brady was totally in his element, and it showed in every frame. Whether he was casually leaning on his bike or catching air over the ramps, he brought an easy confidence to the shoot. It’s always exciting when seniors bring something personal to their session—it makes the photos so much more than portraits. They become a snapshot of who you are at this moment in your life.
What stood out to me most about Brady was how effortlessly cool and laid-back he was. He didn’t overthink the poses or try to put on a show; he just was. That kind of authenticity is what makes senior pictures unforgettable.
One of my favorite parts of the day was how we incorporated movement into the shoot. Brady’s BMX bike wasn’t just a prop—it was part of the action. Whether he was mid-jump or casually rolling across the frame, those moments added energy and excitement to the session. And let’s be honest, it’s not every day you get to photograph a senior doing BMX tricks in the middle of the desert.
The Peoria Preserve’s dirt ramps were a hidden gem. I’m 90% sure the ramps were created by neighborhood kids and they get more elaborate and kick ass every year! They gave us this incredible mix of textures—the soft desert sand, the rugged dirt trails between Saguaro Cacti, and the wide-open sky overhead. It was the kind of location that makes you want to shoot there every day. As the session wrapped up, the sun dipped lower, casting long shadows and turning the sky into a canvas of soft pinks and oranges. Those final moments were pure magic. Brady stood with his bike against the backdrop of the desert sunset, and it felt like the perfect closing chapter to his senior portraits.
Senior year is such an exciting time. It’s full of possibilities, reflection, and—let’s be honest—a little chaos. Capturing that in a way that feels personal and true is what makes senior portrait sessions so special. For Brady, it was all about blending his love for BMX, his laid-back personality, and the beauty of Arizona. And together, we created images that are as unique as he is.
If you’re thinking about your own senior portraits and wondering where to start, locations like the Peoria Desert are a fantastic choice. It’s one of the best places to take senior photos in Arizona, offering versatility, natural beauty, and endless possibilities for creativity. Whether you’re into sports, fashion, or something completely unexpected, we can create a session that feels just right for you.

But Mooooom... When Senior Guys don't *think* they want a Senior Portrait Session - Phoenix Senior Photographer Anjeanette Photography
Senior year is a time of celebration, reflection, and capturing memories that will last a lifetime. For many moms, senior portraits are a cherished tradition, a way to freeze this fleeting moment in time. But what happens when your senior guy just isn’t into it? Many senior boys don’t care about photos, feel awkward in front of the camera, or think it’s not cool to care about senior portraits. This can create tension and frustration, especially for moms who value these keepsakes deeply.
I can honestly can tell you, Senior Guys sessions are my favorites- I love senior ladies but …some of my absolute best sessions have been for guys who didn’t think they wanted them, then turned into James Bond when they put on the suit mom “made” them wear. Most guys actually look forward to and enjoy their senior portraits, but they may not feel chatty about it. They have a lot of fun with them even if they feel uncertain at the beginning. theres this misconception that photo sessions are not hip with dudes- its not true even if they may tell each other that. Guys have just as many outfits, poses, and charm as the girls. I love it when guys bring a car, theirs or a friends. Or a jersey, or sword- seriously those sword session kick butt and are cool as heck. And if it is HIS idea…he will get into it mama!
I have seen this scenario at least a hundred times (no I am not exaggerating): You’ve booked a senior portrait session, chosen the perfect location, and even coordinated outfits. But your son, who could care less about photos, is dragging his feet. He feels awkward, self-conscious, and would rather be anywhere else than posing in front of a camera. He thinks showing enthusiasm for photos is like flexing, and he doesn’t want to come across as trying too hard. Meanwhile, you’re trying to make the best of it, but the session feels strained and uncomfortable.
Now, picture this frustration bubbling over. Your son’s reluctance turns into sullen behavior during the session. He’s uncooperative, his smile is forced, and the whole experience feels more like a chore than a celebration. As a mom, you’re heartbroken because you want these photos to reflect the joy and pride you feel for your son’s accomplishments. The tension between wanting perfect photos and respecting your son’s feelings can be overwhelming.
So, how do we bridge this gap? How do we turn a potentially stressful situation into a positive experience for senior guys and their parents? Here are some solutions that can make senior portrait sessions enjoyable and meaningful for everyone involved.
First and foremost, communication is key. Yeah I know I know, he def does NOT want to talk about it. so take a car ride and talk about it TO him, I promise he really is listening :)
Before the session, have an open conversation with your son about why these photos are important to you. Explain that senior portraits aren’t just about looking good; they’re about celebrating his journey and milestones. Share your feelings and listen to his concerns. Understanding each other’s perspectives can help ease some of the tension.
Next, consider a more relaxed approach to the session. Traditional portrait sessions can feel stiff and formal, which can be uncomfortable for someone who doesn’t like being in front of the camera. Keep the session short and sweet. My mini sessions are perfect for this, offering just enough time to capture a variety of shots without overwhelming your son. These shorter sessions are less intimidating and can be a great way to capture some fantastic shots without the pressure of a full-length session. They are designed to be quick and fun, ensuring that we get great photos without making it feel like a chore.
So, how can I help make this process smoother and more enjoyable for both you and your son? As an experienced photographer, I’ve worked with many seniors who were initially reluctant to have their photos taken. My goal is to make each session comfortable, fun, and tailored to the individual.
I understand that many senior guys feel uncomfortable or awkward in front of the camera. That’s why I take the time to get to know each client, ensuring that they feel relaxed and at ease during the session. We can start with simple poses and gradually move to more dynamic shots as your son becomes more comfortable. My experience has taught me how to bring out genuine smiles and capture the true essence of each senior.
One of the ways I make sessions enjoyable is by allowing your son to take the lead. Let him choose his outfits, even if they’re not what you would have picked. This gives him a sense of control and comfort, making the experience more enjoyable. Provide him with three location options unless he has his own ideas. This way, he feels involved in the planning process and more invested in the outcome. Now he may not have one clue or interest and you will need to pack his outfits, if he doesn’t care go for it! The point is to offer him the opportunity to make them what he wants.
If your son is into art, music, video games, sports or other activities, consider adding action as in my 2 hour Action Session. These sessions focus on capturing him doing what he loves, whether it’s playing basketball, D&D, skateboarding, or even playing an instrument. We go a place he feels good about: arcade, skate park, ball court. It’s a more dynamic and engaging way to showcase his personality and interests. Plus, he’ll feel more at ease in a familiar setting, doing something he enjoys.
During the session, I keep the atmosphere light and fun. Cracking jokes (even if they are super lame mom jokes like mine), playing his favorite music, or even bringing along a friend can help him relax. It’s all about creating a positive environment where he feels comfortable and can be himself. And remember, the goal isn’t to get the perfect posed shot but to capture his true spirit. Sometimes the best photos are the candid ones where he’s genuinely laughing or lost in thought.
Encourage your son to bring items that are meaningful to him. Whether it’s a sports jersey, a musical instrument, or a skateboard, incorporating personal elements can make the session more enjoyable and the photos more authentic. It’s a great way to showcase his unique personality and interests.
Finally, remind your son that these photos aren’t just for him—they’re for you too. Explain that having these memories captured is a gift that will mean the world to you. Sometimes, framing it as a way to make mom happy can be the extra motivation he needs to put in a bit of effort. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about making memories together.
Additionally, consider letting your son bring along someone who makes him feel at ease. Whether it’s dad, an older sibling, or a significant other, having a familiar face nearby can help him feel more relaxed and natural during the session. I have seen dudes light up for a significant other, especially if that person is into photos!! If he feels more comfortable without you being there, it’s okay to wait in the car or at home. This isn’t personally directed at you- often the guys who care about their moms the MOST are the ones most self-concious in front of them! They want to feel cool, and thats hard to do if a mom is there sometimes. Once i had a mom standing over my shoulder asking for his “real smile, like when you were in the 3rd grade and dumped ice cream on your lap!” eek! I know YOU wouldn’t do that mom. We can try starting it with you there, bring a friend of his, and if its not feeling good or getting the results you want, pop out for a water run or something! The goal is to create an environment where he can be himself, and he is growing up and wants portraits that reflect the man he is becoming.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to make the most of your senior portrait session:
Start with a Conversation: Discuss the importance of senior portraits and listen to your son’s concerns. Understanding each other’s perspectives can help ease tension.
Plan Together: Let your son choose his outfits and provide him with a few location options. This gives him a sense of control and makes him feel more comfortable.
Choose the Right Session: Consider a mini session or an action session tailored to his interests. These shorter, more dynamic sessions can make the experience more enjoyable.
Keep It Light: Create a fun and relaxed atmosphere during the session. Play his favorite music, crack jokes, and keep things light-hearted.
DO NOT MAKE HIM SMILE. I will ask, I run through a few poses and I direct prompts like “look at me, no smile, look to the left, chin down- look up at me” and then when the awkward warm up phase is over I do ask seniors to laugh at me- its weird, its dumb, they tell me so- and I encourage them to try it or give me a sift smile. I dont push it or force it. A forced smile is exactly that. Eventually by the end of the session he usually feel comfortable sharing a few smiles, even as a way to get it over with!
Incorporate Personal Elements: Encourage your son to bring items that reflect his personality and interests. This makes the photos more authentic and meaningful.
Bring a Friend or Family Member: Having someone he’s comfortable with can help him relax and enjoy the session. If he prefers, you can wait nearby or at home.
Focus on Candid Shots: Sometimes the best photos are the unplanned, candid moments. Encourage your son to be himself, and capture those genuine smiles and expressions. Cinematic photos where he is not looking into the camera, like in a movie poster.
Consider offering a faster ending IF he can cooperate until we get the needed shots! This wont effect the price, but if its a real dread offer to him that if the photographer gets the shots she needs for your photos we can end the session faster. This makes a mini session even mini-ier for him. and while this still has the same session fee, if he knows he can get ‘out of it’ faster we may get everything we need really fasy and in a happier fashion!
Do It for Mom: Remind your son that these photos are a gift to you as well. Framing it as a way to make mom happy can be a great motivator. He really does love you, even if he def doesn’t love photos.
I often have guys tell me “thats wasn’t as bad as I thought” or “that didn’t suck too bad” and even “that was a little fun actually”. High praise from a guy that was not looking forward to his session. A lot of guys secretly love it and I can tell!
By following these steps, you can turn a potentially stressful experience into a positive and enjoyable one. Senior portraits are about celebrating this important milestone and capturing your son’s true spirit.

5 Months to Make the most of Senior Year! | Senior Pictures near me, Phoenix Arizona
I’m here to help you navigate through this incredible year with a handy timeline and checklist to make sure you don’t miss a thing. Let’s dive into the must-dos for your senior year, from scheduling your senior portraits with me to marking those all-important yearbook dates and planning for special occasions like homecoming and prom.
Y’all, Senior year of high school is such an exciting time, filled with milestones, memories, and a lot to prepare for. I’m here to help you navigate through this incredible year with a handy timeline and checklist to make sure you don’t miss a thing. I remember being a first time senior parent and just barely making some of these dates despite my first senior being very organized and prepared- because you don’t know if you don’t know!
Let’s dive into the must-dos for your senior year, from scheduling your senior portraits with me to marking those all-important yearbook dates and planning for special occasions like homecoming and prom.
August - September: Kick Off the Year Right!
Get Organized: Start by getting a planner or calendar to keep track of important dates and deadlines. some schools provide them or great tracking apps.
Schedule Senior Portraits: One of the first things you’ll want to do is schedule your senior portraits with me. These photos are a major milestone, and we want to capture you at your best! Click here to book your session.
Schedule Yearbook Picture: You do need to make an appointment, usually with Dorian Studio or Grads, for the yearbook photo. No, you do not have to go to *JUST* the school yearbook photographer. BUT I THINK YOU’LL WANT TO DO BOTH! More about that here
Join Clubs and Activities: Get involved in school clubs and extracurricular activities. It’s a great way to make the most of your last year.
College Planning: Start researching colleges, preparing for the SAT/ACT, and planning college visits if you have not already. Remeber not every post graduation adventure has to be college! Take time to think about something you love doing, that you automatically go to and can do for hours without making yourself concentrate- it just feels natural and you get lost in it…then research places to further explore that interest. You really might be surprised what options are out there that do not involve a student loan. Colelege is fantastic, if it takes you to the path you want, or if you are not sure what that path is but know that classes excited you. But everyone has a different path and there are also amazing schools for music, art, mechanics, and other things that will help you find your passion and get you paid to do what you love too.
October - November: Capture the Moments
Homecoming: Homecoming is a special time, and you’ll want to capture it! Schedule a mini-session for homecoming photos. Trust me, these memories are worth it.
Yearbook Photos: Make sure you know the deadlines for your yearbook photos. Submit your senior portraits and any other required photos on time.
Start College Applications: Begin working on your college applications. Keep track of deadlines and make sure to get letters of recommendation from your teachers.
Senior Portraits: If you haven’t already, get your senior portraits done! We’ll create beautiful, timeless photos that you’ll cherish forever. Book your session here.
December - January: Mid-Year Checkpoint
Finalize College Applications: Complete and submit all your college applications. Double-check everything to make sure it’s perfect.
Holiday Photos: Consider scheduling a holiday-themed photo session with your friends or family. It’s a fun way to celebrate the season and make lasting memories.
Check Yearbook Deadlines: Make sure all your photos and entries for the yearbook are submitted. This includes senior quotes, baby photos, and any club or activity photos, and senior ads.
Cap and Gown: Order your cap and gown for graduation. It might seem early, but it’s better to be prepared.
Senior Portraits Reminder: If you still haven’t scheduled your senior portraits, now is the time! Don’t wait any longer to capture these special moments.

Senior Activities: Participate in all the senior activities and events your school offers. These are moments you’ll treasure.
Prepare for Graduation: Make sure you have everything you need for graduation day. Check the dates and plan your family celebrations.
Final Senior Portraits: If you want a few last-minute senior photos in your cap and gown, schedule a quick session. It’s a wonderful way to wrap up your senior year.
June: Celebrate and Reflect
Graduation Day: This is your big day! Enjoy every moment and take plenty of photos with family and friends.

Hannah Mountain ridge Class of 2024 | Anjeanette Photography Phoenix Senior Photographer
I’m so excited to share Hannah’s senior mini portrait session in Phoenix, AZ. This session was an absolute delight, and I can’t wait for you to see the magic we created.
Hannah is a pride of the West State Champion marching band piccolo musician. Her talent and dedication have earned her a spot at Purdue after graduation. What an accomplishment! I’m so proud of her and thrilled to have captured this special moment in her life.
We chose Deem Hills for her session, and it was the perfect backdrop. The natural beauty of the hills, combined with the golden light of the sunset, created a stunning setting for Hannah’s portraits. She arrived with a big smile and an even bigger heart, ready to make some memories.
One of my favorite parts of the session was when we started with some casual shots. Hannah’s joy and enthusiasm were infectious. She played her piccolo, filling the air with beautiful music. It was like having our own private concert. Her passion for music shone through, making each photo come alive. And oh man, I’m so glad we did this! Her glow? A whole vibe!
As the session progressed, we moved to different spots around Deem Hills. Each location offered something unique. From the rocky terrain to the lush greenery, every angle was perfect. Hannah’s natural beauty and grace were evident in every shot. We captured a mix of posed and candid photos, each one telling a part of her story.
One of the highlights was the sunset portraits. The way the light bathed the hills in a warm, golden glow was simply magical. Hannah looked like a goddess with the sunset reflecting off her hair and skin. We found a perfect spot with the sun setting behind her, and the result was breathtaking. LOVE IT!
We had a few laughs along the way too. A curious lizard decided to join our session, and Hannah’s reaction was priceless. It’s those unexpected moments that add a touch of humor and make the experience memorable. We even managed to get a fun shot with our little friend in the background. These spontaneous moments are what make each session unique.
Hannah’s mom was there to support and cheer her on. The bond between them was heartwarming. We took a few shots of them together, capturing their special relationship. It’s always a joy to see the love and pride parents have for their seniors.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, we wrapped up the session with a few final shots. The sky was painted with hues of orange and pink, creating a dreamy backdrop. Hannah’s silhouette against the vibrant sky was stunning. It was the perfect end to a perfect session.
Hannah, your senior mini portrait session was an absolute joy! Your talent, beauty, and spirit made every moment special. Keep shining and chasing your dreams at Purdue. Your future is incredibly bright, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll achieve. You’re a star! 🌟

Maxie Perry High class of 2024 | Anjeanette Photography Phoenix Senior Photographer
Maxie's senior portrait session on Roosevelt Row was absolutely incredible! Maxie isn't just any senior; he's also a photographer. He knows how to work the camera, both in front of and behind it.
We started the sesh with Maxie showing up in the first of two fantastic outfits. Each one was on point. First, he had this casual, red polo and relaxed denims look that was effortlessly stylish. Then he switched it up with a crisp brown shirt and edgy black jeans.Every look was a total hit. LOVE IT!
Roosevelt Row is the perfect spot for photos. The murals, vibrant colors, and artsy atmosphere make it an ideal backdrop. And Maxie nailed every pose. Honestly, it was like he’d been modeling forever. 📸
One of my favorite moments was when we checked out the 1 1/2 Street Mural alley behind The Churchill. Maxie stood in front of it, and hopped up on a nearby set of mailboxes to hit all the angle. The contrast was just perfect. His posing was spot on, and we captured some stunning shots. It was like the mural was made for him. The energy of Roosevelt Row matched Maxie's personality so well – friendly, confident, and just cool.
The best part of the session was the laughter and fun we had. At one point, some curious passerbys decided to join our shoot. Why do people always ask “Are you taking photos?” Maxie took it all in stride, laughing and making the best of every moment. It’s those unexpected moments that make the shoot so unique. City Life! It isn’t just about the photos; it’s about the experience.
Maxie told me about his love for photography and it really shone through when he described some real estate work he was part of. He’s been taking photos for himself and his school, and you can tell he’s got an eye for it. His passion is contagious, and it made the session even more enjoyable. Seeing him so engaged and excited was truly inspiring.
We ended the day with some golden hour shots on top of the 1st street garage, and the lighting was perfect. That glow was everything. Maxie looked absolutely radiant, and the photos captured that dreamy, warm light beautifully. It was the perfect way to wrap up an amazing session.
Maxie, you are a star! Your senior session was one for the books. Keep being awesome and chasing your dreams. Your talent and passion for photography are going to take you far, and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
If you’re looking for a spot that’s full of life and color for your senior portraits, Roosevelt Row is the place to be. And remember, it’s all about having fun and being yourself. That’s when the magic happens!
Thanks for tagging along on this adventure with Maxie and me. Until next time, keep shining and making memories! 📸✨

Kaitlyn Mountain Ridge Class of 2024 | Phoenix & Peoria Graduation Pictures & High School Photographer ANJEANETTE PHOTOGRAPHY
Hey senior squad! SO goofy sounding hahah. ANYWAYS…Picture this: senior year is winding down, the future beckons, and you're ready to capture all the feels in epic photos. Well, that's exactly what Kaitlyn, a soon-to-be college music major and Mountain Ridge High School grad, did with her Adventure package senior session! We traded the familiar hallways for the majestic Glanis Sand Dunes in Brawley, California, and the results were pure magic.
For the past four years, Kaitlyn's been a rockstar (well, technically a bass clarinetist!) in the Mountain Ridge Wind Ensemble and Marching Band. Remember the band that keeps on winning State competition? Yep, Kaitlyn was right there in the heart of it all, leading her section with passion and precision. I’m blessed to have been there to document a lot of it and watch her grow! That's right, yours truly! Seeing her dedication and musicality translate from the field to her future at GCC and NAU is truly inspiring.
Kaitlyn came prepared for her session with a wardrobe mix of casual and dressy, each outfit reflecting a different facet of her personality. Comfy jeans for that laid-back vibe, a flowy dresses that danced in the desert breeze, and even a stunning gown that transformed the dunes into a high-fashion runway. It wasn't just about looking good (though let's be honest, she rocked every single look!), it was about showcasing the many sides of Kaitlyn – the musician, the adventurer, the future music major ready to conquer the world.
Kaitlyn's fashion was epic. Having 3-5 well-chosen outfits that reflect your personality is key. Just one or two outfit changes can feel limiting during a session. Finding the sweet spot is important.‘

Abe Class of 2022 | Anjeanette Photography Senior portraits Phoenix Az (Copy)
Gorgeous girl and gorgeous smile- but what you can’t see is the strength and determination in every photo. This spunky fun senior has been thru multiple foot surgeries, and was on crutches for this entire session although her Doctor gave the all-clear for travel and portraits! Don’t worry, mom and I made sure she took frequent breaks and didn’t push this passionate kid. Safety first always, no photo is worth risking her health.
Resolved not to be slowed down, she flew to Arizona from Montana to get photos like ones she fondly remembered from being a kid and playing in the backyard of her grandparents to sunsets with Sonoran Cacti silhouettes. So of course the best place for cacti and dreamy desert views in Phoenix is the Botanical Gardens. No sunsets of this rare overcast afternoon, but Abe’s smile beams away the clouds, and cloudy days are lovely for soft shadows and vibrant color.
This northern plains basketball and volleyball star has beaten the odds before- and will again! On the road to healing and enjoying her senior year!

Ellie MOUNTAIN RIDGE CLASS OF 2024 | PHOENIX & PEORIA GRADUATION PICTURES & HIGH SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER ANJEANETTE PHOTOGRAPHY
Sunsets have a magical way of painting the sky with vibrant hues, creating the perfect backdrop for capturing memorable moments. I had the pleasure of photographing a sunset mini session with Ellie, a Class of 2024 senior from Mountain Ridge High School.
Senior pictures are more than just photographs; they are a celebration of achievements and a reflection of personality. Ellie's senior photos captured her essence perfectly, showcasing her radiant smile and infectious enthusiasm for life.
Throughout her high school journey, Ellie was actively involved in various activities, including band and winterguard. These pursuits not only enriched her high school experience but also shaped her into the remarkable individual she is today. Incorporating elements of her interests into the photoshoot like her with her flute and a few dancers leaps added a personal touch, capturing the essence of who Ellie is as a person.
As the sun dipped below the horizon behind a wall of clouds, the greyness was transformed to a painting with the sky in shades of orange and pink. We wrapped up the session almost in the dark, which I am ausre was a little concerning to Ellie and her folks, but being a flash and natural light photographer (aka any available light) I knew I captured the portraits without fake AI skies added later- because flash photography allows you to set the background in camera to capture what’s really there, then turn on the flash to capture your subject!
I was so excited for what we captured with an amazing young lady. Graduation portraits serve as a timeless reminder of a significant milestone in one's life, encapsulating the anticipation and excitement of embarking on a new chapter.
Sunset sessions offer the perfect opportunity to capture senior pictures that are not only visually stunning but also deeply meaningful. Ellie's photoshoot was a testament to the beauty of this fleeting moment in time, serving as a lasting memento of her high school journey and the bright future that lies ahead.

Caden and Liesa Mountain Ridge Class of 2024 Phoenix & Peoria Graduation Pictures & High School Photographer ANJEANETTE.PHOTOGRAPHY
As a photographer specializing in capturing the essence of the Class of 2024 through senior pictures and graduation portraits, I've had the privilege of witnessing incredible stories unfold in front of my lens. Liesa and Caden's journey is one that tugs at the heartstrings and makes you say “awwwww”. On the last day of 2023, Liesa and Caden celebrated their Class of 2024 journey with a portrait session from Anthem to the vista of Sunset Point. Even though it was a little overcast these two radiated energy and optimism. Their portraits capture not just a moment in time, but the perseverance and spirit that will see them conquer whatever comes their way. ✨
These two remarkable individuals first crossed paths as percussionists in the State Champion Mountain Ridge Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. From the cadence of their drumbeats to the harmonious notes they created together, it was evident that their connection extended beyond the musical realm. As their senior year approached, we decided to freeze these moments of camaraderie in time with a special BFF senior portrait session.
Anthem Park and Sunset Point provided the perfect canvas for our photographic adventure, where we went from a giant sky sized softbox of a soft cloudy day to being bathed in the Arizona sunset. The landscape served as a backdrop, mirroring the journey these two have shared throughout their high school years.
Navigating the waterfalls of Anthem, we captured nervous giggles to genuine laughter and shared memories that define Liesa and Caden's relationship. Later we drove up to the edge of the sky above the Phoenix Valley to Sunset Point surrounded by the Bradshaw Mountains.
To Liesa and Caden, as you stand on the brink of new adventures, may these graduation portraits be a cherished reminder of the incredible relationship and lifetime memories you've built together. To the parents reading this, I hope this post inspires you to celebrate the unique friendships and relationships that have enriched your child's high school experience.
Here's to Liesa and Caden, the Class of 2024, and the beautiful journey that lies ahead!

Emily’s video is ready!!! Yay! That means….it’s delivery day for her gallery!!! What a star- this Varsity Mountain Ridge Cheerleader’s awesome downtown Phoenix rooftop sesh was amazing. This session really shows off her spunk and smile. I like to do multiple sets from each session on Insta to show off multi aspects of each seniors personality, their different outfits, and the way the changing light hits and glows those last two hours of the day. Great work Emily!

Jacob Class of 22 | Anjeanette Photography Phoenix senior pictures
Sometimes guys are hesitant to take senior photos, not sure what they will do or ow to stand or feel awkward- but they can be the best sessions! I always tell them don’t worry I’ll tell you how to pose- and after a few minutes we get comfortable and they start killing it. It’s not weird or dumb to get portraits guys. Its just a fun as you make it- you will look awesome, and whats the harm in expressing yourself and feeling great about yourself?
Now I would never know if this guy had any hesitations about portraits because Jacob was killing it with great looks all around downtown like a model! He took to it very naturally and looks amazing because of that willingness to get into it. Rocked it, crushed it, killed it, swag, sheeesh anyway you say it Jacob did it! What an awesome session! This guy hits different and def has senior guy style!

This lady has such great energy -athletic, smart, beautiful smiles and eyes & a head full of brains! Can’t wait to deliver her full gallery! It was so good meeting up with Hailee and her family again- I also was her big brothers senior photographer! I think my favorite part was seeing her light up with her puppies though, real giggles and stinky puppy kisses are kinda the best :)

Brooke Class of 2021 | Phoenix Senior Pictures | Anjeanette Photography Az
Phoenix School for the Arts dancer Brooke was a joy to watch twirl and leap- and have a bit of a Disney princess moment with a roadrunner (name unknown) at the Desert Botanical Gardens. She absolutely glowed in the December afternoon sun as it drifted over the cacti in the Ottosen garden! Congratulations on your upcoming commencement and future adventures!
“Sometimes since I've been in the garden I've looked up through the trees at the sky and I have had a strange feeling of being happy as if something was pushing and drawing in my chest and making me breathe fast. Magic is always pushing and drawing and making things out of nothing. Everything is made out of magic, leaves and trees, flowers and birds, badgers and foxes and squirrels and people. So it must be all around us. In this garden - in all the places.”

Ashley SDOHS Class of 2021 | Anjeanette Photography Phoenix
“The neat part about pictures is when life changes the memory doesn’t have to”
Music: "No Limit" by IamDayLight https://artlist.io/artist/979/iamdaylight
Ashley Class of 2021
Ashley has such an energetic and happy spirit! Her smiles and laughs made this cloudy Saturday senior session shine bright!
The OC grad to be braved the wind like a pro, maybe partly to her Eagle Pride ROTC grit, and posed all over downtown #Phoenix to #PapagoPark in style. Everyones crazy for a sharp-dressed senior! She is still choosing the right after high school experience, but looking at a bunch of colleges and possibly even the photographic arts! Congratulations on your senior year Ash!!! Go get that world!
Science tells us our memories are changing. Changing because of our access to information, computer use, emotional maturity and the world around us. Understanding of what a memory even is has grown. Changing for the better in many ways. In other ways we understand more now that, well, really, what we remember isn’t even true based on a multitude of factors like perception, recall, and our of so human tendency to focus on the dreadful. Modern cognitive theory of a sensory memory, a short-term memory and a long-term memory has always been studied by humans, but really took off in the 60’s and 70’s as medical equipment was able to measure and compile more information to study. When combined with the long history of memory study…we gained a better understanding of how our memory works. Basically, it’s lying to us. Yet we are in control of those half or missed truths about what really happened during a moment that we lived.
Why do I bring this up in the middle of a senior session blog? Because by all reasonable standards this year has sucked. We know it, everyone is saying it’s the worst, all the news confirms that everything is terrible and it is just going to get worse and worse with an excited gleam in their eyes. Those who should be our most trusted elder members of society complain, and yell, and have told us they have looked back and compared to all memory this is the worst year ever in the history of forever. They are not wrong that it’s been terrible. Heartbreakingly we have lost so many souls we can't get back. Another reason photographs of those we love are so very important! The election turmoil has hurt us all. We cannot deny the hurt our society inflicts on so many of its members from people of color, to women, to those differently-abled. We have to do better. We all have pandemic fatigue we cannot let win.
We need to be safe and careful- we need to look to faith and science and stop ignoring the dangers of climate, the treatment of others less privileged, and political concerns. We also need to breathe, stop hoarding toilet paper, and live a little too. Neither can we forget the improvements this new era has brought us, it’s better by far than medieval times, so we know we are capable of great things. No pressure,eh?
We can’t always 100% trust our memory-which isn’t such a bad thing after all! We have a generation of kids here- Gen Z- that is the most well-informed, compassionate, strong, and thoughtful generation. Just because maybe not everyone appreciates that or understands their TikToks and IG posts and writes them off as just kids (exactly as THEIR parents and grandparents did before them- nudge-nudge) doesn’t mean it isn’t true. These kids are poised to be the next greatest generation. Support them. Celebrate them, help them. and get their moments of joy in a tough world truly memorized in a photo whenever you can. They are also the most documented and photographed generation so they can handle it hahahahah.
Find moments of joy and photograph the shit out of them, then hold onto THOSE good memories instead!
The brain in general, and memory, in particular, has a distinct negativity bias. It pays more attention to, and highlights, unpleasant experiences.
The brain typically detects negative information faster than positive information, and the hippocampus specifically flags negative events to make doubly sure that such events are stored in memory.
Negative experiences leave an indelible trace in the memory, even when efforts are made to “unlearn” them.
This is probably an evolutionary adaptation, given that it is better to err on the side of caution and ignore a few pleasant experiences than to overlook a negative, and possibly dangerous, event. - THE STUDY OF HUMAN MEMORY https://human-memory.net/
If we can’t trust our memory then what can we trust? Trust photos! Trust how you feel right now. Enjoy the moments, smile, and be present. Capture the good times and hold them tight. I always ask parents to get in some photos during sessions- parents GET IN THE DAMN PICTURES. Your kiddos deserve a photo of you together. Nobody who really matters gives a crap if you gained some COIVD pounds or don’t like your bangs. They NEED those photos of you for the hearts mamas.
One of the major lessons of memory research has been that human memory is fallible, imprecise, and subject to interference. Thus, although observers can remember thousands of images, it is widely assumed that these memories lack detail. Contrary to this assumption, long-term memory is capable of storing a massive number of objects with details from a (photographic) image. -
Visual long-term memory has a massive storage capacity for details by:
Timothy F. Brady, Talia Konkle, George A. Alvarez, and Aude Oliva
Look to change the world in one of the ways we all can every single day: do good whenever you can, care for each other and yourselves, smile and remember happy times and make happy times now with complete obstinance. Being happy in troubling times is an act of defiance we need more of. Be a rebel. Be like Ashley! Smile and laugh through the cloudy days and rock your senior portrait with confidence and happiness. Thank you for coming to my complete ramble of a Ted Talk ;p

Kayla Class of 2021 | Anjeanette Photography Phoenix Az
Absolutely amazing session with North Dakota Class of 2021 grad to be Kayla! This model & gymnast has Arizona in her heart and longed for the vibe of the desert to accompany her portraits- and she brought her own glow and free spirited beauty with her! She couldn’t wait to Wanderbabe it out onto the mountains surrounding the sun valley and explore the city of Phoenix with stylish outfits, hats, and a kick ass pair of Doc’s. Congrats Kayla and thank you for choosing me for your fun-tastic senior picture session!
Not much beats the vistas of Papago at Sunset-
love that soft peachy pink sky!
