Steven is a kid after my old early 90's chick heart- at home in the city surround by sick art, hanging on garage buildings with friends messing around with cameras, skateboards, and ideas dreaming about the future. He is into authentic fashion and vintage clothing so he had some great pieces picked out- and yep I must be vintage because they were clothes many of my North Detroit friends would have worn 'back in the day'. I def think he has an awesome eye for threads!!

When they started looking for photos to match his unique rad personality, Steven and his mom looked to Insta for artistic style senior pics. I love Instagram- all the pretty photos- less of the drama and politics. So glad they found my seniors only IG in all the amazing Phoenix senior photography options! Steven and his family were fantastic, I am so happy to meet them and honored to capture some cool shots to celebrate Steven's last year of high school!

I was so excited to capture some downtown Phoenix artistic senior portraits with Sofia, future graphic designer and all-around cool kid. Now she is making this look like a professional shoot- she is flawless and effortless in her modeling. But let me tell you- it was HOT. We planned a session for after the heat and wouldn't you know it was a surprising high temp day. Hey even in PHX we have our cool months and normally plan for less intense days, it should have been high desert 70s- it was a shocking 100+. None of that phased how these photos turned out, Sofia KILLED her session!! We explored the Roosevelt Row murals and even came upon a Helvetica type font tag to match her gorgeous hair that made this art students designers day!

Will totally crushed his senior portrait session in downtown Phoenix last week! I couldn’t wait to get these photos uploaded and edited. And the folks over at Indie Senior Magazine noticed too! About 2 mins after I posted Will’s sneak peeks on my Instagram- they re-grammed them and featured his pictures on their Instagram page!

Custom sessions are pretty much my favorites because they always showcase the seniors personality and style- and hey thats why I actively pursue (or just nag) seniors to choose their location adventure! The other night I got to go on a photography ‘playdate’ - you know us photographers, the glitz, the glam, the dump. Yep, we went to the dump! Shout out to Valerie Waldvogel for styling, providing amazing models, and securing the most wondrous of locations: aka the Glendale Dump for her new monthly styled sessions “What I See Shoot” aimed at photographers on every leg of their journey from noobies with their first dslr to more seasoned, professional photographers.

(Hmm what seasoning would I be? Am I in the Cumin stage of pro photography or a little more Paprika?)

Valerie used this session to provide education and experience to a group she taught throughout the afternoon , and to just boost camaraderie with all of us- be it on on manual mode with our own photography businesses or first ‘real’ camera.The shoot was a reminder to challenge oneself - find beauty in any situation, any location. I had a great afternoon meeting everyone in my group, folks in other groups, and just enjoying the warm sunshine through the lens.

Getting out and practicing and playing isn’t something you ever ‘get too good’ for. Creative meet ups like this one Valerie organized keep the passion alive!

Always learning, always experimenting, always evolving!

These beautiful models and dresses have me like…PROM…though!! Moody or bright and airy- I love prom season! It is just around the corner believe it or not, and I already have booking for April 27th…make #PROM2K19 plans today!

Kaelen's Scorpion Gulch & Roosevelt Row Senior Session | SDOHS Class of 2019 | Anjeanette Photography Seniors

Kealen isn’t just a great trumpet player- he is an exceptional all around musician. He started his senior year as a Drum Major leading his band through drills and challenges out of the students control with grace and a smile, and continues to wow everyone in concert season.

Senior year isn’t quite over yet- can’t wait to see what this guy will achieve the second half of the year and beyond!

This guy here, he is cool and calm as can be. Casually sitting for his senior portraits like it isn't the hottest dang day of my whole life! HA! But Nathan has been forged in the heat of the desert- as a trumpet marching for SDOHS and Phenom SoundSport he is no stranger to hard work and 100% effort regardless of the Arizona sun! Our first location was a park &campground where Angela had some special memories! She actually was there to celebrate an elementary school field trip in the past as well as camping there before. It was a beautiful spot along the Old Hickory Lake in Mt Juliet, Tn with a sweet beach and gorgeous fall colour trees.

The only thing we did not find at the campground was a golden field- one of my favorite portrait locations for warm, glowy skin and bright, contrasty highlights. So we drove down the street a bit to a super glam spot- right behind a gas station! Some interesting details, haha, are just cropped out of frame. With a beauty like Angela however, all you see if her surrounded by soft buttery light.

The first thing you notice about Nashville Class of 2017 senior Aubreyel is her infectious, gorgeous smile. She is a smart, vivacious, and beauty with a strength that has pulled her through difficult times. I had a jaw ache from all the smiles and laughter after this fun session in Cumberland Park downtown! Aubreyel dedicated her session to her mom, who her sister and her recently lost to breast cancer. A tragedy like that would be difficult to endure to say the least especially in the flurry of activity that a senior year involves. This lady knows her mom is watching over her, and beams that love and warmth bright enough for her to see in heaven. Nothing embodies fight like a girl like refusing to let anything steal the joy of moms legacy!

Station Camp Marching Band Invitational 2017 | Gallatin Tennessee | Anjeanette Photography Seniors Phoenix Arizona

25 Dynamic Marching Bands...

... competed a few weeks ago at Sumner county's own Station Camp High School. The marching invitational is sponsored and run by the Station Camp Thundering Herd under the direction of Jim Reed, and The SC Band Boosters. In addition to the hard work of parents and vendors, this invitational would be impossible without the hundreds of hours put in by the Thundering Herd band students, led by Drum Majors Brian Mason and Ashley Leininger. Frankly, it was a brutally hot day, yet the bands performed artistically & wonderfully despite heat advisory warnings. Band kids are TOUGH! Marching bands condition long hours in the middle of the day through the summer holiday months to prepare- but I have to say I was so impressed at how effortless they made it look to carry several pounds of weight, doing intricate choreographed performances in 100 plus degrees.
