Grab your favorite drink and get comfy, friends! I can’t wait to share Kenna’s incredible downtown senior portrait session in Phoenix, AZ with you. This session was extra special because Kenna had just moved to Anthem, AZ when the COVID-19 epidemic hit, making her transition to a new high school at Boulder Creek pretty challenging. But she faced it all with such grace and strength.
Kenna showed up with the most fabulous hairstyle, thanks to her mom, who is a kick-ass hairstylist. Her hair was styled to perfection, adding a touch of glam to every shot. We started the session with a mix of posed and candid shots. Kenna’s smile lit up the camera, and her candid shots, where she was walking around downtown, were pure gold. But the cinematic portraits were my absolute favorite. Kenna looking off into the distance, lost in thought, created such a cool vibe. It’s like capturing a moment from a movie!

Our adventure began amidst the urban charm of downtown Phoenix. The city provided the perfect backdrop for Kenna's senior pictures – a fusion of modernity and tradition. We explored the colorful murals that adorned the walls as we strolled through the streets. The energy of the city blended seamlessly with the excitement of capturing these precious moments.
From the bustling streets, we transitioned to a more serene setting, capturing Kenna against the iconic golden Phoenix skyline. The graduation portraits radiated a sense of accomplishment and anticipation for the future. The city, with its towering buildings and endless possibilities, mirrored the wide-open path that lies ahead for Kenna. It was a beautiful juxtaposition – the urban landscape symbolizing the journey from adolescence to adulthood.
We explored the bustling streets of downtown Phoenix, with its vibrant murals and urban chic spots. Kenna’s outfits were on point, and she blended right into the city’s stylish backdrop. One of the highlights of our session was when we went up to a parking garage surrounded by skyscrapers. The cityscape was breathtaking, but what caught my eye was a small puddle from a rare Arizona rainstorm. I was so excited! We played with reflections, and I captured Kenna with her arms raised to the sky, reflected perfectly in the water. It was magical!
During the session, Kenna shared stories about her move and how she adapted to her new school. It wasn’t easy, but she made it through with determination and a positive attitude. Her resilience was inspiring, and it showed in her photos. Every image told a part of her story – a young woman who faced challenges head-on and emerged stronger.
We took a break for some fun and candid moments. At one point, Kenna spotted a street musician and started dancing to the music. Her spontaneous dance moves were a blast to capture. It’s those unplanned moments that add so much personality to a session. We were all laughing, and Kenna’s joy was contagious. These candid shots are some of my favorites because they show her true spirit.
As the sun began to set, we took advantage of the golden hour. The warm, soft light added a beautiful glow to Kenna’s portraits. The skyscrapers in the background, bathed in the sunset’s golden hues, created a stunning contrast with Kenna’s silhouette. She looked absolutely radiant, and the photos turned out breathtaking.
Kenna, your downtown senior session was amazing! Your energy and enthusiasm made every moment special. Keep shining and chasing your dreams. Your strength and resilience will take you far, and I can’t wait to see all the incredible things you’ll achieve. You’re a star! 🌟
